Long Cross Country to Hammond!

Decided to fly my plane to Lee's July 4th party .. what got into me?!

Tim signed me off and off I went .. Tres loaned me his XM weather monitor .. thank goodness because as soon as I left CC I had THeads all around .. but worked by way through them. Had to divert well west of my course up the coast.

Approaced Galvaston from the west staying south of Houston's B space .. did go around on 31 . tower gave me wrong wind and I could see I was too fast on the ground speed .. came back on 13 and landed ok .. spent about 1/2 hr refueling.

Off again going east along the coast .. began to clear up but still some dodging ... got some nice pics. Flew most of the way between 5500 and 7500' .. keeping engine lean.

Found Hammond .. made an ugly left downwind .. set down not too bad .. one bounce as I recall.

Turned off and couldnt' find the FBO .. finally figured out I was on the wrong side of the field. Had to back taxi to cross the field.

Left the plane without securing it .. ( no pitot cover or aeiloran lock ) .. and it set there for a week.

Overall the trip was very pleasant ...

Weather prevented two attempts to fly it back .. so I finally sent Tres to get it.
